Wonderfarts

Beirut, in the middle of everything tightening again, a small opening appeared at Takeover Gallery. A new case: Wonderfarts.

A collaboration with Creative Space Beirut, a fashion school supporting marginalised talents and designers. Eleven students and alumni working with scent and touch, building objects that extend beyond their form. Pieces filled with dried flowers, fabrics soaked in essential oils, creating surfaces that draw the body closer. An open invitation to escape.

The exhibition was conceived in two parts.

The first opened on March 1st. Three pieces, spaced across the room. The air carried traces of them. Visitors slowed down and immersed in the multi-sensory experience. The gallery turned into a passage. Outside: Beirut shouted loud and moved restlessly. Inside: a controlled atmosphere lured people into a space where scent and touch reorganize perception.

The second part of the exhibition remains pending.

The interruption came fast. The start of yet another war. While we were busy farting flowers, the world around us got busy dropping bombs.

Wonderfarts continues to take form.

The work carries through the people who made it and the space it opened.

Jihan Azzam, Mahdi Fakih, Salem Sleiman, Patile Tachjian, Mostafa Al Sous, Iftikhar Kanawati, Joe Al Daccache, Sonia Melkisetian, Wadih Hadchity, Miled Chahla and Sola Kamal from CSB.

A blossoming message from Beirut to the rest of the world.
