The Rat d’Hôtel was never invited.
It found a way in.

Born in Beirut, Rat d’Hôtel is a design house making limited-edition objects, furniture and accessories with overlooked materials.

Discarded plastic. Textile scraps. Recycled metals. Nothing is treated as worthless too quickly.

The house works with artisans, artists and designers to transform these materials into objects with character: useful, strange, sometimes slightly off, and never quite identical to the one before.

Mistakes are allowed. Traces of the hand are welcome. Accidents mostly stay.

The house stands with the underdogs. The odd ones. The outsiders on the inside. The uninvited guests. The people, materials and ideas that should not have made it this far, but somehow did.

A bottle cap can become furniture.
A scrap can become something worth keeping.

About the founder

Anne-Lise Franjou studied design at ENSAAMA in Paris and Central Saint Martins in London, building her career in fashion as an accessories designer for leading luxury houses. She then founded Rat d’Hôtel in Beirut, a cross-disciplinary design brand rooted in collective experimentation, sustainability, and poetic provocation.
